Winchester from Morestead Downs

About the work
This distant view of Winchester, taken from Morstead Down, shows sheep grazing in the foreground while the full expanse of the city is seen in the distance.
In 2000 a second watercolour, taken from the same spot by Prosser and dated 1863, was sold through Phillips auctioneers in Oxford. The 1863 watercolour is titled 'Winton from Morestead Down'; Winton being an archaic name for the city of Winchester.
