Archibald Robertson was an ‘Honorary Exhibitor’ (also referred to as an ‘Honorary Member’) when he exhibited at the Royal Academy from 1772 to 1796. In 1772 he exhibited a work titled ‘A View of the wonderful bridge of Veja, in the Veronese Mountains, of solid marble, the arch of which measures about 120 feet’. This print, which Robertson may have engraved after the work exhibited at the Academy, is from a series of 17 aquatints, issued under the title ‘Short Descriptive Account of the Pyrenean Part of Bigorre’ between 1783 and 1787.
