Fionnuala Boyd and Leslie Evans started working together as Boyd & Evans in 1968. During 1999 they spent three months travelling through California, Nevada, Arizona, Utah and Wyoming. The photographs, prints and paintings which resulted from this trip emphasise the vastness of the American landscape. Wupatki National Monument was established in Arizona in 1924 to preserve the red sandstone ruins of indigenous North American houses, or pueblos, built over a large area of desert to the north east of the town of Flagstaff, and east of the Grand Canyon.
