This engraving of 1724 shows Clarendon House in London (1664-67), designed by architect Sir Roger Pratt (c.1620-1685) for the politician and historian Edward Hyde, first Earl of Clarendon (1609-1674). During the period that the house was under construction, Clarendon was serving as Lord Chancellor.
