  • About the artist
    Edmund Marks, architect and landscape painter, was based in London. He exhibited seven works at the Royal Academy, two at the British Institution and nine at the Society of British Artists in Southwark Street, all in London. He is known to have lived at 5 Seymour Place, Marylebone, from 1841 to 1846, at 68 Oakley Square, Camden, from 1851 to 1852, at 77 Upper Stamford Street, Southwark, in 1861 and at 15 St James’s Square, Notting Hill, from 1868 to 1869. His exhibited works include views of several locations in England including Brighton Beach, Corfe Castle in Dorset, Greenwich Park, the beach at Hasting and Swansea. There are 20 watercolour views of Greater London by Marks in the collection of the London Metropolitan Archives.
