In this enchanting print, a newspaper kiosk, laden with magazines, journals and cards, captures the attention of two men, their backs turned away from us. The novel use of red, white and blue in the composition combined with the more obvious French magazine titles (Pour Vous and Mode), firmly place the scene on a Parisian street, where Lill Tschudi lived in the 1930s. Tschudi uses the graphic medium of linocutting to great effect, boldly emphasising the busy and tightly packed kiosk.
