About the artist
Bob Rhodes was born in Sheffield and studied at Sheffield College of Art and Chelsea School of Art during the 1960s. From 1968 he taught at Wolverhampton College of Art and participated in several group shows there. A solo exhibition of his work was held at the Sheffield City Museum in 1972. During the early 1970s, Rhodes painted a number of works that depicted the distinctive modernist interiors of Odeon cinemas – places where real life was displaced temporarily by the make-believe world of film.
