This screenprint by Nancy Sharp reduces the scene from a window looking out onto the Bosphorus, Turkey, to a bright, bold two-dimensional pattern, with little attempt to give any impression of subtle gradations of distance.
This was one of two screenprints of the Bosphorus which Sharp included in her solo exhibition in London in 1979, which also included an oil painting of the Bosphorus. The fact that the artist was born in Cornwall, a well-established venue for painters of coastal scenes, may have had a bearing on her attraction to such marine compositions.
