About the artist
Ian Davenport was born in Sidcup, Kent and studied at Norwich College of Art and Design (1984–5), before attending Goldsmiths College (1985–8). He was one of a group of young artists who participated in Damien Hirst’s (now legendary) exhibition, 'Freeze', held in the Surrey Docks, London, in 1988. Since the 1990s, Davenport has exhibited his work widely in the UK and internationally. In 1991, he was shortlisted for the Turner Prize. He has also produced a range of product design commissions including aeroplane tail designs for Fabergé and Vistajet (Easter Project, 2013); and handbag designs for Lady Dior (2016).
