About the artist
Born in Leeds, Norman Ackroyd studied at Leeds College of Art, and then the Royal College of Art, London, between 1961 and 1964. He worked as a visiting lecturer at the Central School of Art, London and Winchester School of Art, in addition to teaching in the United States. Having exhibited widely in Britain and overseas, from Chile to Norway, examples of Ackroyd’s work can be found in numerous public collections around the world including the British Museum and Tate in London and MOMA in New York. He was elected a Royal Academician in 1991, and was made Senior Fellow of the Royal College of Art in 2000.
