Mark Power was commissioned to record the construction of the Millennium Dome in London from a bare patch of wasteland to completion. It was his first commission of this kind, and he spent many days exploring and discovering different aspects of the building. His early photographs emphasise the human endeavour and effort which went into the construction. His later photographs, such as this, are more focused on the monumentality of the architecture. Although documentary, his photographs are also aesthetically pleasing from a formal point of view, through his choice of colour, composition and lighting.
