Country: India
City: Mumbai
Place: British Deputy High Commission
This work comes from a series of photographs taken in the thirty-one marine areas which are mentioned in the national shipping forecast broadcast four times daily on BBC Radio 4. The caption is taken from the 06:00 hours forecast on the day the photograph was taken. "Malin" was taken on the beach in Ayr in Scotland. While there are still those for whom the shipping forecast is an indispensable guide, for many people now, it is more of a poetic interlude than a functional body of information. We recognise the names of Malin, Dogger, German Bight and the rest, but we are less familiar with the locations to which they refer.
