About the artist
Rabiya Choudhry (born 1982) works primarily in painting, exploring the themes of identity and cultural displacement in contemporary British society with a darkly comedic approach, underpinned by her own experiences as a British-Pakistani queer woman. Choudhry is currently working on a collaborative project for Glasgow International (2020) funded by GI and Creative Scotland’s Create Inclusion Fund (2019-2020), and has recently completed a Crisis Residency at Cove Park, supported by the Freelands Foundation.
