English Heritage (2023) is a hand painted ceramic tile work. Tile panelled pieces have been a strand of Stein’s practice since a research trip to Manises, Spain in 2013, where tile artworks line the streets. The tiles also speak to Stein’s Cornwall locale with the pottery of Bernard Leach. English Heritage has a beautiful quality with blocks of yellow intermingled with a sunflower, creeping beanstalk and a personified sun.
