Rogers exhibited his work with the London Group and the London Artists’ Association during the 1930s. In 1937 he married fellow artist Elsie Few (1909–80). Rogers taught art in London art colleges including Camberwell (1945), the Slade (1948–63) and the University of Reading where he was Professor of Fine Art (1963–72) and later Professor Emeritus. Major retrospectives of his work were held at the Whitechapel Art Gallery (1973) and the Ben Uri Art Gallery (1992–93).
