Sue Arrowsmith was born in Manchester. After completing an art foundation course at Tameside College of Technology in Ashton- Under-Lyne (1984–86), she studied for a B. A. Hons in Textiles at Goldsmiths’ College, London (1987–90). In 1997, she was a prizewinner at the John Moores Liverpool Exhibition 20; and in 1998, at the NatWest Art Prize. Since 1994 Arrowsmith has had solo exhibitions in London, Copenhagen, Berlin, Stuttgart and Blundenz. Her most recent solo exhibitions include shows at the National Botanic Garden of Wales, Carmarthen, 2011; and at Purdy Hicks Gallery, London, 2015. She has also exhibited her work in numerous group exhibitions in the UK and abroad. In 2010 she was Artist-in-Residence at the Josef and Anni Alberts Foundation in Connecticut, USA. Arrowsmith lives and works in London. Her work is represented in numerous collections including the Arts Council Collection; Kupferstichkabinett of the National Gallery of Berlin; San Diego Museum of Contemporary Art; and Saatchi and Saatchi, London.
