Henry Ashby Binckes exhibited one work at the Royal Academy in 1846, ‘The Midnight Attack: Boys Bolstering’, presumably a scene of boys pillow-fighting, however, his address is listed as just ‘London’. Other works by the artist include ‘Calves in a Wooded Landscape’, sold through Sotheby’s on 14 March 1995, and ‘Cyclists Passing the Greyhound Pub, Dulwich’ (1880), sold through Christie’s on 9 November 2005. There are also two works by Binckes in Southwark Art Collection: ‘Dulwich Village Looking South’ (ref: GA1050) and ‘Dulwich Village Looking North’ (ref: GA1051), both of which are dated 1881. The artist is known to have lived at No.1 Shardlow Villas, in Mebourne Grove and No.339 Crystal Palace Road, Camberwell.
