Kara Chin was born in Singapore and lives and works in Newcastle upon Tyne. Her practice includes animation, sculpture and installation and merges the online and digital realms with the physical world. Chin was awarded a BA in Fine Art from the Slade School of Fine Art, and has won numerous prizes including the Woon Foundation Painting and Sculpture Prize and the Duveen Travel Scholarship (both 2018). She has exhibited her work internationally and across the UK, including: Goldsmiths CCA, London, UK; BALTIC39, Newcastle, UK; and Science Museum, London, UK. She is represented by VITRINE, who presented a solo display of Chin’s work as part of 2023’s Frieze Focus in London. Current exhibitions include 'New Eden' at ArtScience Museum, Singapore.
