Arturo di Stefano was born in Huddersfield. He studied at Liverpool Polytechnic and Goldsmiths’ College in London, before attending the Royal College of Art between 1978 and 1981. He won a scholarship to the Accademia Albertina in Turin and the time he spent in Italy was highly influential on his work.
Since the early 1990s he has exhibited with the Purdy Hicks Gallery in London and has had exhibitions of his work in various regional galleries across the UK. His work is in public collections including the Museum of London; the Victoria & Albert Museum; Arts Council and the National Portrait Gallery.
