(1931 - 2024)
Natalie Dower was born in 1931 in London and studied at St Martin’s, Camberwell and the Slade schools (1948-1954). She was at Camberwell in the early 1950s when Euston Road School realism was pre-dominant. Dower however was interested in Constructivism and developed her own particular form of Systems painting. She has worked to this theme ever since. Dower's first solo show was at the Polytechnic of Central London (1979). Solo exhibitions in the 1980s and 1990s include the Air Gallery and Curwen Gallery; group exhibitions include the Hayward Annual and the Countervail exhibitions with Jean Spencer. Dower's work is in public and private collections including the Arts Council of Great Britain and the Mondrian Museum in Amersfoort, Holland.
