Liversidge works across various media, often with everyday objects and materials, questioning the boundaries of what is and isn’t art. A surreal and offbeat humour lies at the heart of his idiosyncratic approach which, as Jessica Lack commented in ‘The Guardian’ in 2009, is a ‘… surreal form of pedantry that is reminiscent of the comic genius Spike Milligan’. For the last decade and more, his work has taken the form of ‘Proposals’ for art works and performances, all typed on a manual Olivetti typewriter. He has been commissioned and exhibited work internationally, including solo exhibitions at Whitechapel Gallery, London; Van Abbe Museum, Netherlands; the Aldrich Contemporary Art Museum, Connecticut; and Bonniers Konsthall, Stockholm. Liversidge lives and works in London.
